The body of the flow switch is a standard pipe tee, PT threaded, which contains a paddle type vane. Flow pushes the vane against magnetic forces: when flow exceeds a critical value the magnet actuates a reed switch. By coarse adjustment of the reed switch position, the output is changed between N0 & NC contacts: fine adjustment changes the flow sensitivity and switch rate.
 
As flow occurs and the paddle is raised at an upward angle of 20 to 30 degrees (or more), the paddle will push the magnet upward to actuate the reed switch which then closes the circuit. The length of the paddle can be adjusted to the diameter of the pipe. 1" trim size can only be used with metal pipes.
