The level switch is intended for side-mounting applications, and can be installed in a tee as an external float chamber.  It is most often used with vapor-liquid separators as a pump-on or pump-off, or high-level alarm switch.  The switch enclosure is rated for hazardous locations, so can be used without an intrinsically-safe barrier in the control panel.
